C.L. &#8220;Butch&#8221; Otter declared May &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boisestatepublicradio.org\/post\/may-second-amendment-protection-month-idaho\" target=\"_blank\">2nd Amendment Protection Month<\/a>.&#8221; And as new gun control laws go into effect in a handful of states, the Idaho Commerce Department <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boisestatepublicradio.org\/post\/how-will-gun-control-other-states-affect-idahos-bottom-line\" target=\"_blank\">says it&#8217;s &#8220;well-poised&#8221;<\/a> to lure gun and ammunition companies to Idaho.<\/p>\n<p>According to our August 2012 analysis, Idaho has at least <a title=\"Where Are Guns Made? Mapping Gun And Ammunition Makers In Idaho\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/maps\/where-are-guns-made-mapping-gun-and-ammunition-makers-in-idaho\/\" target=\"_blank\">180 gun and ammunition manufacturers<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>The Spokesman-Review&#8217;s <\/em>Betsy Russell <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spokesman.com\/blogs\/boise\/2013\/may\/06\/otter-sent-letters-pitching-idaho-79-gun-ammo-makers-28-states\/\" target=\"_blank\">got a copy of the letter<\/a> Gov. Otter has sent to 79 out-of-state gun companies.<\/p>\n<p>The two-page letter from April 25 opens:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHere in Idaho, gun ownership is more than a constitutional right; it\u2019s a way of life. That\u2019s why I\u2019m personally extending an invitation for you to grow your bottom line here in Idaho and joint the business momentum we are experiencing in\u00a0Idaho.\u201d &#8211; Gov.
