Idaho is on the fast-track to create its own online health insurance exchange<\/a>. This week, the newly-minted exchange board<\/a> met for the first time and voted unanimously to hire a Portland consultant to head the project.<\/p>\n

The Spokesman-Review<\/em> reports<\/a> the exchange board has voted to hire Amy Dowd as executive director. She has accepted the new job with a salary in the “$175,000 range.”\u00a0 <\/p>\n

“Dowd, currently a health care consultant with Ernst & Young in Portland, was one of three key consultants who helped develop Idaho\u2019s initial blueprint for a state-based exchange in 2010-11, working as a contractor for the state Department of Insurance. She also formerly worked as a health care consultant and for Blue Cross Blue Shield in New York, and early in her career, from 1993 to 2000, was an IT project manager and lead analyst for information systems and Web development projects for Idaho\u00a0Power.” – Spokesman-Review<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Spokesman reports Dowd was one of five candidates interviewed for the post.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s one of the people that can hit the ground running,\u201d said board member Margaret Henbest. \u201cShe has a strong project management background, a strong insurance background. She has state relationships in\u00a0Idaho.\u201d -Spokesman-Review<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
