The new employees will work in Allstate&#8217;s roadside services division, taking emergency calls from customers around the nation. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Gov. C.L. &#8220;Butch&#8221; Otter touted the expansion, saying in a press release, \u201cAllstate\u2019s decision to further expand in Idaho is a shining and significant addition to our business community, making it stronger by providing jobs and opportunities for hundreds of people, as well as helping energize other sectors of the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We wanted to know more about these jobs; Allstate responded to our request today. Spokesperson Shauna McBride says the starting wage for the new hires will be $11 an hour, that&#8217;s $3.50 less than the <a href=\"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/2013\/01\/02\/as-idahos-neighboring-states-increase-minimum-wage-more-workers-could-seek-jobs-out-of-state\/\" target=\"_blank\">average hourly wage<\/a> in the state.<\/p>\n<p>McBride says the new jobs do include benefits.
