That&#8217;s according to new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/popest\/data\/state\/totals\/2012\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">data released today<\/a> by the U.S. Census Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>Idaho&#8217;s addition of 11,984 people is less than a percentage, .8, of growth over the last year. That ranks Idaho 24th among states.<\/p>\n<p>This is in contrast to the growth Idaho experienced over the first half of the last decade. Idaho&#8217;s population <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/maps\/mapping-migration-who-moves-to-idaho\/\" target=\"_blank\">grew by more than 20 percent<\/a> from 2000 to 2010. That more than doubles the national growth rate over the same time period. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>North Dakota saw the largest percentage growth from 2011 to 2012, climbing 2.17 percent. North Dakota&#8217;s population growth rate was also larger than the nation&#8217;s, which grew just .7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a look at the top 10 fastest growing states, in terms of percent increase:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>North Dakota<\/li>\n<li>District of Columbia<\/li>\n<li>Texas<\/li>\n<li>Wyoming<\/li>\n<li>Utah<\/li>\n<li>Nevada<\/li>\n<li>Colorado<\/li>\n<li>Arizona<\/li>\n<li>Florida<\/li>\n<li>South Dakota<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The state with the largest population is still California with 38 million people. Texas is next with 26.1 million.
