C.L. &#8220;Butch&#8221; Otter today named Jani Revier to be his new budget director at the <a title=\"What You Should Know About the Division of Financial Management\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/topic\/division-of-financial-management\/\" target=\"_blank\">Division of Financial Management<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the press release from the governor&#8217;s office:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>(BOISE) \u2013 Governor C.L. \u201cButch\u201d Otter announced the appointment today of Jani Revier \u2013 a senior member of his staff during three terms in Congress \u2013 to become administrator of the State Division of Financial Management.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>She succeeds Wayne Hammon, who resigned in September to become executive director of the Idaho Associated General Contractors. The appointment is effective January 2, 2013, and is subject to Senate confirmation. Revier will be the first woman ever to serve as Idaho\u2019s State budget director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m extremely fortunate to have such an experienced, savvy and proven leader agree to assume the responsibilities of budget director,\u201d Governor Otter said. \u201cI worked closely with Jani in Congress and I\u2019ve known her and her family for many years. They are great people, and Jani is an excellent addition to my team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored and grateful to be given the opportunity to serve Governor Otter and the people of Idaho as DFM administrator,\u201d Revier said. \u201cI look forward to working with the Legislature, agency directors, stakeholders, and my colleagues in the Governor\u2019s office to advance a responsible budget and sound public policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Revier, an Idaho native, has been working as a special projects manager for Congressman Mike Simpson since 2007. She was legislative director and then deputy chief of staff during then-Congressman Otter\u2019s years in Congress, from 2001 through 2006. The Capitol Hill veteran previously was director of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry, Conservation and Rural Revitalization, and began her career in public service as a legislative assistant to then-Senator Larry Craig.<\/p>\n<p>Revier has a bachelor\u2019s degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University, and did post-graduate work in agricultural and resource economics at Oregon State University.<\/p>\n<p>She and her husband John have two young children and live in Meridian. Revier\u2019s father is third-term State Senator Bert Brackett of Rogerson, incoming chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
