Otter has until Dec. 14 to decide if Idaho will create it&#39;s own health insurance exchange.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Back in July, Gov. C.L. &#8220;Butch&#8221; Otter <a title=\"Idaho\u2019s Health Insurance Exchange Debate\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/topic\/health-insurance-exchange\/\" target=\"_blank\">put together a group<\/a> of insurance industry stakeholders, business owners and lawmakers to figure out if Idaho should create its own health insurance exchange or let the federal government take the lead. <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The work group has since recommended Idaho create its own state-based exchange. Otter&#8217;s panel agrees the state should create an Idaho-run exchange.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s up to the governor to make the final decision.\u00a0 <a title=\"States Get An Extra Month To Decide Whether To Build Health Insurance Exchanges\" href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/idaho\/jp\/states-get-more-time-to-decide-whether-to-build-health-exchanges\/\" target=\"_blank\">That deadline has been pushed back<\/a> to Dec. 14 after the <a href=\"http:\/\/rgppc.com\/medicaid-and-exchange-letter-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Governors Association asked<\/a> the Department of Health and Human Services for an extension.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in July, Gov.
