Nolte says.\u00a0 &#8220;These people are members of our community.\u00a0 They&#8217;re our neighbors.\u00a0 And we want to reach out to them, because it&#8217;s a huge problem to them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, lenders and housing counselors spent the day meeting with a slow and steady stream of troubled homeowners.\u00a0 Tom Birch, Director of Homeownership Counseling with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsid.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Neighborhood Housing Services<\/a>, says the problems people are facing come down to employment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The reason that they\u2019re here is loss of job or loss of income, and they just don\u2019t know what to do.\u00a0 In a lot of cases, they\u2019ve been working with their lender and are totally frustrated,&#8221; he says.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Birch says it&#8217;s important that people in that situation know there is such a thing as free, face-to-face foreclosure counseling. &#8220;It&#8217;s available, it&#8217;s available, it&#8217;s available!&#8221;
