The State University System <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flbog.edu\/pressroom\/meeting_agenda.php?id=133\">Board of Governors will hold its annual meeting in Orlando<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over three days, the board will hear presentations about each public university\u2019s work plan for the next three years &#8212; including their tuition requests.<\/p>\n<p>The board will review applicants for openings on boards of trustees at Florida A&amp;M University (1), New College of Florida (1), and the newly created Florida Polytechnic University (5).<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Rick Scott will address the panel during an informal lunch on Tuesday in an ongoing effort to keep the peace between the Governor\u2019s Office and the board. <!--more-->The two entities are trying to work together after questioning the other\u2019s authority over the years in matters like tuition hikes and oversight of university business.<\/p>\n<p>The governor will also be there to welcome the newest board member. Scott announced the appointment this week of Elizabeth Webster. She has a background in healthcare management. Her appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate, but she\u2019ll be able to cast votes next week as part of the 17-member Board of Governors.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of university Board of Trustees meetings next week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncf.edu\/web\/ncflorida\/announcements\">New College of Florida<\/a> (NCF): Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fau.edu\/bot\/meetings\/06_19_2012_meetings\/master_agenda.pdf\">Florida Atlantic<\/a> (FAU):\u00a0 Tuesday, June 19 at 10 a.m.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fgcu.edu\/trustees\/AgendaFile\/2012\/6-2012\/AGENDAANDINDEX_6-2012.pdf\">Florida Gulf Coast<\/a> (FGCU): Tuesday, June 19\u00a0 at 8:30 a.m.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unf.edu\/trustees\/Calendar.aspx\">North Florida<\/a> (UNF): Tuesday, June 19 at 9 a.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other meetings and events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FDOE &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.fldoe.org\/DOE_Calendar\/default.aspx?WhichCalendar=4\">Summer Institute for School Improvement and Curriculum and Instruction Training<\/a>:\u00a0 June 18 &#8211; June 21 in Jacksonville. This training is designed to provide educators with information, tools, and skills necessary to implement their plans at the district and\/or school level.<\/li>\n<li>FDOE &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.fldoe.org\/DOE_Calendar\/default.aspx\">2012 Common Core State Standards Summer Institute Training<\/a>: June 18 \u2013 21 in Orlando.
