Negotiations are expected to begin this month.<\/p>\n<p>Sarasota County teachers can expect their first pay bump after four years of salary cuts and paying more for benefits,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.heraldtribune.com\/article\/20120507\/ARTICLE\/120509648\/2055\/NEWS?Title=Sarasota-teachers-to-get-2-2-percent-bonus&amp;tc=ar\"> the <em>Sarasota Herald-Tribune<\/em> reports<\/a>. The district and union have agreed to a 2.2 percent bonus for next year&#8217;s contract.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In Martin County, the school district is trying to keep a new evaluation out of next year&#8217;s contract, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tcpalm.com\/news\/2012\/may\/02\/martin-county-school-board-mostly-sides-with-on\/\">TCPalm.com<\/a>. The district and union agreed to step pay increases for the end of the current year and next year.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers in Marion County will receive step pay increases that have been frozen since 2009 &#8212; a total of $1.6 million in additional pay &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocala.com\/article\/20120507\/ARTICLES\/120509777\/1001\/NEWS01?Title=School-Board-approves-part-of-pay-plan&amp;tc=ar\">according to the <em>Ocala Star-Banner<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brevard County teachers are pushing for across-the-board raises, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.floridatoday.com\/article\/20120508\/NEWS01\/305080014\/Brevard-School-Board-sides-district-teachers-contract\">according to Florida Today<\/a>, but the district wants targeted one-time bonuses instead. The longest-tenured teachers would receive $700 &#8212; twice what recently hired teachers would receive. The offer is less than the district&#8217;s initial 2.2 percent bonus proposal.<\/p>\n<p>In the Keys, Monroe County teachers are volunteering for a pay cut rather than absorb cuts to health insurance and other benefits that the district has proposed,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.keysnet.com\/2012\/05\/09\/445755\/union-keys-teachers-willing-to.html\"> according to <em>The Keynoter<\/em><\/a>.
