It offers housing and services to homeless people.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-20791-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/florida\/files\/2013\/11\/Students-Design-Space-For-Homeless.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/florida\/files\/2013\/11\/Students-Design-Space-For-Homeless.mp3\">https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/florida\/files\/2013\/11\/Students-Design-Space-For-Homeless.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\u00a0The class has been working on the project since the beginning of the school year. However, design was not the only lesson this project was meant to teach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started with the approach that any one of us could be homeless at any one time,\u201d said Hankin. \u201cI think immediately, the students were exposed to this idea that they\u2019re designing for themselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The students certainly seemed willing to live in their creations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI created like I would do with any room,&#8221; said Kayla Montesdeoca, one of the presenting students. &#8220;I could see myself in that room.
