Feel free to share your own in the comments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/2013\/08\/19\/3571918\/its-back-to-school-for-miami-dade.html\">Miami Herald tagged along<\/a> with an upbeat elementary schooler.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The sun had barely risen, but Gillian Pons, donning pink shoes, a golden uniform top and a blue hair ribbon to match her shoelaces, was already feeling chipper about the morning ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great day!\u201d said the 9-year-old as she walked with her family en route to Cypress Elementary, where the first day of fourth grade awaited.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>In Central Florida, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/features\/education\/os-back-to-school-orange-lake-20130819,0,127613.story\">City Year volunteers tried to energize<\/a> their students.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Get loose. Get funky. Get started with your knees!&#8221; chanted Will Phillips, the leader of the team, whose members will focus on mentoring students in third-grade and above to approve attendance, academics and behavior at the D-rated, low-income school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If I can get the to dance with us, I can hopefully get them to improve their grades as well,&#8221; Phillips said. &#8220;It takes the whole school to keep students excited.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>In Plantation, Anjan Joshi had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/news\/education\/schools-blog\/sfl-first-day-of-school-today-20130819,0,5777271.story\">a glass half full this time around<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I feel very happy, it&#8217;s not that depressing this time,&#8221; said Anjan,\u00a0a fourth-grader at\u00a0Nova Eisenhower Elementary in Davie.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The Tampa Bay Times captured <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/news\/schools-reopen-in-pinellas-pasco-and-hernando-counties\/2137164\">beginning butterflies\u2014in a teacher<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the pre-kindergarten classroom at Sanderlin Elementary School in St. Petersburg, the teacher was as nervous as the students.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I put a lot of pressure on myself to do things perfectly,&#8221; said Ashley Cooley, 23, of her first-full-time teaching job. &#8220;Since I woke up this morning, nervous, I&#8217;ve been drinking lots of water and taking nice slow breaths.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pnj.com\/article\/20130819\/EDUCATION\/130819006\/First-day-of-school-in-Escambia-Santa-Rosa\">a brave kindergartner found her place<\/a> in a classroom in Escambia County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Across the room, Aysha Rembert, 5, settled in at a table with two other kids.<\/p>\n<p>Aysha said she is excited about starting school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to listen to my teacher like a big girl,&#8221; she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a long, humid summer, kids across the state are waking up and getting ready to go back to school this week.
