Teachers opposed him for pushing test score-based evaluations, paying teachers based on those evaluations and other policies. Conservative voters opposed Common Core, which they believe will reduce local authority over education.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Those are policies Florida has already approved, and <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/florida\/2012\/12\/06\/new-thoughts-and-old-thoughts-on-florida-education-from-indiana-superintendent-tony-bennett\/\">Bennett said he is a big believer in the Florida model.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bennett is a founding member of Chief for Change, an eduction group affiliated with the Foundation for Excellence in Education. <a href=\"http:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/florida\/2012\/05\/30\/jeb-bush-taking-florida-education-ideas-nationwide\/\">Bennett is close with former Florida Gov.
