California ranks first.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leading places of origin for foreign college students in the state:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China 16.2%<br \/>\nIndia 11%<br \/>\nVenezuela 7.3%<!--more--><br \/>\nSaudi Arabia 7.3%<br \/>\nSouth Korea 4.1%<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s estimated those students spend about $935.7 million dollars in Florida on tuition, housing and cost of living expenses, which according to the Open Doors website is calculated in the following way:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The economic impact of international students in each state\u2014produced by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nafsa.org\/eis\" target=\"_blank\">NAFSA: Association of International Educators<\/a>\u2014based on enrollment data from the Institute of International Education&#8217;s Open Doors report, tuition figures from Wintergreen Orchard House, living expenses calculated from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wintergreenorchardhouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wintergreen Orchard House<\/a>figures, and analysis of the data by Jason Baumgartner at Indiana University \u2013 Bloomington&#8217;s Office of International Services.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Florida schools with the highest number of foreign students:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>University of Florida Gainesville &#8211; 5,588<br \/>\nFlorida International University Miami &#8211; 2,938<br \/>\nUniversity of Miami Miami &#8211; 2,530<br \/>\nUniversity of South Florida Tampa &#8211; 2,386<br \/>\nUniversity of Central Florida Orlando &#8211; \u00a02,101<\/p>\n<p>The University of Florida was among the top 20 schools in the country for hosting international students.
