University of Florida in Gainesville is a top party school according to Newsweek.<\/p><\/div>\n

For those who love higher education rankings, the last week has been a bonanza.<\/p>\n

The lists suggest Florida has room for improvement in certain areas — unless you\u2019re looking for a party school that doles out an easy curriculum.<\/p>\n

First, we look at Forbes\u2019 annual list of America\u2019s 650 Top Colleges<\/a>. These rankings focus on quality of teaching, great career prospects, high graduation rates and low levels of debt.<\/p>\n

The list includes private and public institutions, and Florida has just one entry in the top 100.<\/p>\n

Here are the Florida schools that made the list and their rankings<\/a>, according to Forbes:<\/p>\n

80. \u00a0University of Florida<\/p>\n

132. University of Miami<\/p>\n

189. New College of Florida<\/p>\n

193. Florida State University<\/p>\n

207. Rollins College<\/p>\n

266. Eckerd College<\/p>\n

336. Stetson<\/p>\n

427. University of North Florida<\/p>\n

449. University of South Florida<\/p>\n

453. Florida Institute of Technology<\/p>\n

455. Florida Southern College<\/p>\n

462. University of Central Florida<\/p>\n

465. University of Tampa<\/p>\n

490. Florida Atlantic University<\/p>\n

520. Florida International University<\/p>\n

539. Embry Riddle Aeronautical University-Daytona Beach<\/p>\n

550. Lynn University<\/p>\n

585. Barry University<\/p>\n

603. University of West Florida<\/p>\n

604. Nova Southeastern University<\/p>\n

629. Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University<\/p>\n

When it comes to Least Rigorous Schools<\/a>, Florida has three entries in the top 5.<\/p>\n

The list from Newsweek considers student workload and student-to-faculty ratio. It also weighs the median SAT and ACT scores of students.<\/p>\n

The report says \u201cthese are the colleges where accepted students find the workload easiest when normalized by the aptitude of the student body.\u201d<\/p>\n

Florida institutions considered the least rigorous and their ranking:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 University of Central Florida<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Florida State University<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 University of South Florida<\/p>\n

14. Florida Atlantic University<\/p>\n

21. University of Florida<\/p>\n

No Florida schools made the “most rigorous” list. But one did make the Most Beautiful list.<\/p>\n

Rollins College came in at number 13<\/a> based on \u201cthe attractiveness of guys and girls on campus, as well as the campus and architectural aesthetics.\u201d The beautiful list also considers the amount of sunshine and humidity.<\/p>\n

Finally, Newsweek released its list of Top Party Schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Florida had three schools in the top 25: University of Florida, Florida State University, and Rollins College.<\/p>\n

The report \u201cconsidered the number of on-campus arrests and per-student disciplinary actions for drugs and alcohol…Bonus points were given to campuses that landed on Princeton Review\u2019s most recent rating of the top party schools and top beer-drinking campuses.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
