The Search for the Source of Butler County’s Water Woes Continues

Last year we wrote about The Woodlands, a community in Butler County that experienced bad water, forcing some residents to flee. State regulators ruled out gas drilling. But residents continue to search for answers, and clean water.

What causes clear, fresh country well water to turn orange or black, or smell so bad that it’s undrinkable? Residents of a western Pennsylvania community have been trying for more than a year to get that question answered in their quest to get clean water back.
