Shell Says It Will Decide by January Where to Build a New Cracker Plant

Three states, including Pennsylvania, are competing for the facility that separates out ethane and other wet gasses from natural gas supplies. The plant would create thousands of construction jobs, and possibly hundreds of permanent positions.
PITTSBURGH — Shell Chemicals will build a “multibillion-dollar’ ethane cracker somewhere in West Virginia, Ohio or Pennsylvania, as the company continues reviewing potential construction sites. The final announcement should be set for January, said Dan Carlson, general manager of new business development for Shell.
