Consol Reopens Two Coal Mines, in Response to Increased Demand

Consol says China and India are demanding more coal.


A return in international demand for coal allowed Consol Energy of Cecil to reopen its longwall mining operations at its Blacksville, W.Va., and Buchanan, Va., mines on Tuesday, said Chairman and CEO J. Brett Harvey. Mr. Harvey spoke with reporters after the company’s annual shareholders meeting at the Hyatt Regency at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
