“Casey Presses Sunoco, ConocoPhillips on Pa. Refinery Closings”

Twelve hun­dred jobs in South­east Penn­syl­va­nia could be lost if these refiner­ies shut down. Casey urged the com­pa­nies to make pub­lic all “rel­e­vant infor­ma­tion” about the refin­ery finances.

Casey’s con­fronta­tional let­ter rep­re­sents the lat­est salvo between pub­lic offi­cials, union rep­re­sen­ta­tives and the com­pa­nies over the deci­sions to sell or shut down the refiner­ies in Philadel­phia, Mar­cus Hook and Trainer. The three plants process about 700,000 bar­rels of crude oil a day, more than half the refin­ing capac­ity in the northeast.
