Drill Bits: Drill Baby Drill in State Parks and Forests

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The former head of the state parks John Norbeck says he was fired due to “philosophical differences” with the administration. Norbeck says he opposed moves to pursue commercial timbering, mining and Marcellus Shale drilling in state parks.

Philadelphia Inquirer: While Norbeck is forced out, environmentalists trying to stop drilling in the Loyalsock State Forest get the cold shoulder from DCNR.

Bloomberg: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is stuck on fracking.

    this is typical of a government trying to solve a problem of miss management of fund by raping a long term asset for a short term gain. The state parks have been a protected resource and should not be touched for a short term solution to a problem allowed to happen thru lack of planning.warren
