Williamsport Still Scratching Its Head Over Impact Fee Miscalculation

Lycoming County and Williamsport officials are still working to determine why the city, which has become a hub for northeast natural gas drilling, miscalculated its impact fee revenue by nearly $300,000. The Sun-Gazette has more:

While Kelly said the city meets all the criteria needed to get more than $500,000 from Act 13 funding, according to his estimates, documents are being checked to make sure they correspond to Pennsylvania Utility Commission records.
He also said companies from the gas industry itself may have appealed to the PUC to reduce or nullify their payments. Drillers are required to pay $50,000 for each horizontal natural gas well and $10,000 for vertical well.
“We have more homework to do,” he said.
