Township Supervisors Association Supports Impact Fee

The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors is supporting the impact fee legislation, which a joint conference committee approved earlier this evening.

The bill restricts local governments’ ability to zone and regulate natural gas drilling by creating statewide standards for well setbacks, and requiring municipalities to allow gas extraction in all zones, except for dense residential areas.

PSATS Executive Director Dave Sanko’s letter said “if we take a look at it, there are some reasonable and common sense standards” in the bill. “There are still some opportunities for a community to regulate certain things. If anyone’s intention was to over-regulate or ban, they’re not going to be happy. But that’s not allowable in the current law, either.”
