Activists Call for Corbett’s Arrest

Todd Vachon / WHYY/Newsworks.org

Hundreds of protestors rally outside the Marcellus Shale Conference in downtown Philadelphia Wednesday.

Natural gas protestors marching down Broad Street in Center City Philadelphia dropped a banner at the corner of Locust street that read: “Arrest Corbett, Justice for Rivers, Fracking Kills”

According to one of the protest organizers, the banner quickly disappeared. We’ll keep you updated on its fate. Several hundred people are in town to protest gas drilling during the Marcellus Shale Conference. Former Governor Ed Rendell is expected to speak to conference goers this afternoon.

Well, that’s a little stupid. You can’t even get a pol arrested in PA after they’ve been caught redhanded at an actual criminal activity, and convicted of same. It’s an unfortunate and embarrassing tradition here in the Commonwealth.
