“Kingfisher County Landowners File Lawsuit Against Piedmont Over Wind Turbine Ordinance”

A group of Kingfisher County landowners have filed a lawsuit against the city of Piedmont for an ordinance they say interferes with their rights to lease land to a company that wants to build a wind farm. The suit seeks “to stop enforcement of the ordinance and class-action status for possible damages of more than $38 million,” The Oklahoman reports.


A group of landowners in Kingfisher County who have leased their land to Apex Clean Energy Inc. for a planned wind farm filed a lawsuit against the city of Piedmont. They claim a city ordinance declaring wind turbines up to three miles outside the city limits a “public nuisance” interferes with their contracts and future lease payments.
