Background
Deborah Delisle served as Ohio’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2008-2011. In January 2012, President Barack Obama nominated her as Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education in the Department of Education. Her nomination was confirmed in April 2012.
Before becoming state Superintendent, Delisle worked in several roles in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district near Cleveland, eventually serving as superintendent from 2003-2008. She began her career as an elementary school teacher.
