School Board Lowers Minimum GPA for Athletes

The LIma school district in Northwest Ohio has lowered the minimum grade point average, or GPA, students must have to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. The new minimum is a 1.5 GPA, down from 1.75. A 1.5 GPA is halfway between a C- and a D+.

“We are not lowering, we are aligning the GPA,” Superintendent Karel Oxley said. “This is an aligning issue to make sure our students have the same opportunity as all the others in the county and new league.”
