Prosthetic Leg Allows Licking Valley Superintendent to Run Again

Licking Valley Local Schools Superintendent Dave Hile’s left leg was amputated as a consequence of bone cancer. His new prosthesis allows him to jog, a hobby he has been missing for more than 20 years, the Newark Advocate reports.

“My goal is to run a 5K with my two boys,” Hile, now 44, said. “Hopefully we will be able to do that next spring, or this time next year. Then a 10K, and, possibly, a half marathon…”

“It is awesome,” Hile said. “I never thought I would be able to run again. It is an incredible feeling. Now I will be able to run the rest of my life.”
