Louisiana’s Adherence To Common Core Is In Limbo

Louisiana officials appear locked in a battle over whether to keep the Common Core standards in place. The Washington Post reports that Governor Bobby Jindal issued an executive order Wednesday withdrawing his state from the national education standards. Almost immediately, Louisiana’s two top education officials vowed to keep them. If Jindal’s order stands, Louisiana would be the fourth state to withdraw from the Common Core.


Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R ) announced Wednesday he has issued an executive order to withdraw his state from t he Common Core State Standards for K-12 in reading and math. Jindal, a possible presidential candidate, was an early supporter of the standards.
