How About a Little Cross-Sector Collaboration, Eh?

Last month, the Ohio Board of Regents made a public push to commercialize research done at Ohio’s universities and colleges.

Now here comes a private company in Kettering building a new $4 million “facility” to take advantage of the work done by nearby Wright State University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and its Air Force Research Laboratory.

Partnerships between the manufacturing, education and government sectors are “absolutely critical” for advancement, [Mound Laser & Photonics Center CEO Larry Dosser] said. “The next wave of manufacturing is coming out of the universities,” he said. “You can’t have them isolated in a silo and us isolated in a silo. We have to work together.”
