Former State Schools Chief Stan Heffner Won’t Face Criminal Charges

Former State Superintendent of Public Instruction Stan Heffner will not face criminal charges for ethics violations he committed while in office, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Heffner resigned in August.

Update: Here’s the letter from Franklin County and Columbus city prosectors regarding their decision.

“Despite our belief that Mr. Heffner acted inappropriately in both instances…we too do not find that the evidence supports probable cause to file criminal charges. As a result, we are unable to pursue criminal prosecution,” Assistant County Prosecutor Jeff Blake and Chief City Prosecutor Lara Baker wrote in letter to state Inspector General Randall J. Meyer.
