Backlash Grows Against Common Core Education Standards

Ohio legislators and educators concerned about implementing the Common Core learning standards aren’t alone. NPR reports lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are increasingly questioning whether states were forced to adopt the standards and if they’ll have any impact on how well students learn.


Supporters of the new education standards adopted by 45 states called the Common Core say those standards will hold American students to much higher expectations and move away from the bubble test culture that critics say too often pushes teachers to focus on test prep.
