"As taxpayers, we’re all going to end up paying for those who drop out," writes The Civic Commons' Andrew Samtoy."As a community, we won’t have the educated and trained workforce we need for the 21st century jobs our companies and organizations are creating," he continues. "And, of course, the individuals themselves will likely face a lifetime of underemployment, low income and possible incarceration."So, Samtoy asks: who will be stuck with the fallout from the dropout dilemma?That's the question being posed this week by the Civic Commons, an online environment offering a platform for Northeast Ohio's residents to share their thoughts and opinions, while engaging in a social media conversation about what's going on in their community. The forum begins today and will be asking a new, dropout-related question every day through May 19.
