Week Ahead: Kasich Budget Unveiling, Digital Learning Day and More

Monday: Gov. John Kasich releases his budget proposal, including significant changes to Ohio K-12 and higher education funding, at 1 p.m. Details on what Kasich’s proposed, new K-12 school funding model means for local districts available later this week. Hearings in the Ohio House of Representatives on the governor’s budget proposal begin Tuesday.

Monday: What qualities do you think the leader of Ohio’s largest school district should have? Public meetings to identify what residents want to see in the next Columbus school district superintendent start Monday and continue through Feb. 12. There’s an online survey too.

Wednesday: Ohio Department of Education and state Board of Education officials share details about new school report cards, the third grade reading guarantee, the new Common Core curriculum, new standardized tests and new teacher and principal evaluations.

Wednesday: Happy Digital Learning Day. Digital Learning Day, organized by the Alliance for Excellent Education, promotes the use of technology in schools.
