Week Ahead: Game-Based Learning, University-Based Research and More

Tuesday: Cleveland schools addshours back into the school day, restoring time cut before voters approved a gigantic tax levy in November.

Wednesday: Second Ohio educational technology Twitter chat starts at 8 p.m. Topic of the night: game-based learning. #OETChat is the hashtag.

Wednesday: The Board of Regents discusses commercializing university research, state funding for higher education and graduating more “underrepresented” students, including low-income, non-White students and veterans.

Wednesday: The National Council on Teacher Quality publishes its annual teacher policy yearbooks, looking at things like which states are ahead of the pack in preparing new teachers for the Common Core and which states set high standards for admission into their teacher prep programs. (Look for more on this Wednesday.)

Saturday: School Choice Ohio holds central Ohio education expo featuring dozens of different types of schools and information on how to apply for vouchers and special education scholarships.
