It's back to work we go. Also, the 130th session of the Ohio state Senate and House of Representatives starts.
Monday: Ohio state legislators get back to it, with the 130th state House of Representatives and Senate holding their opening meetings today. Coming up soon: Work on new ways of distributing state funds to K-12 schools as well as colleges and universities.
Monday: Open enrollment application periods begin in Akron and many other districts. Open enrollment allows students to attend school for free in a district other than the one where he or she lives. It’s a policy more districts are adopting.
Friday: Columbus Education Commission, the group formed to “examine the challenges and opportunities” facing Columbus children, holds first meeting. Topics: State/federal education policy and early childhood education.
