E. Gordon Gee Still the Highest Paid Public University President
Ohio State University trustees gave President E. Gordon Gee a 3-percent raise on his base salary and a nearly $334,000 bonus today.
The bonus is paid with donated money.
That brings Gee’s total pay package to $2.15 million. And, yes, Gee is still the highest-paid president of a public university in the nation, Columbus Business First says.
Gee’s pay package is what Ohioans expect, one university trustee told the newspaper:
“I don’t think (the pay package is) out of line with what Ohio expects,” said Trustee Alex Shumate, a Columbus attorney who headed the evaluation. “We are focused on return on investment. This is a performance-based program.”
