Week Ahead: Classes Start at Public Schools, Colleges

COMING UP THIS WEEK

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: Kids head off to the first day of school in districts including Dublin, Toledo and Akron and log on to start classes at schools including Ohio Virtual Academy and Electronic Classroom Of Tomorrow.

Monday: Starting this fall, all Ohio public colleges and universities will be on a semester calendar. Classes start Monday at most four-year colleges including the University of Cincinnati, University of Akron, Kent State and Ohio University. Classes at Ohio State started last week.

Wednesday-Thursday: Ohio State University trustees meet. Among many other items, trustees learn about the the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. (BTW, Ohio has the largest soup, ketchup and yogurt plants in the world, the college says.)

Saturday: Ohio University’s football team will wear special helmet decals in support of child abuse victims during the team’s season opener against Penn State.
