Week Ahead: July 9-13
COMING UP THIS WEEK
Monday-Tuesday: The state Board of Education will vote on the terms of the contract to set up Ohio’s first public boarding school. They’ll also hold a retreat to ponder questions like, “Is the State Board of Education relevant?”
Thursday: The Ohio Board of Regents will consider encouraging public colleges and universities to ban smoking outdoors on their campuses. Smoking is already prohibited indoors at Ohio universities and colleges. The regents can’t actually require the schools to ban outdoor smoking, but they can ask them nicely to do so. (This item was originally scheduled to be considered last month.)
WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON
- Ohio is number two nationally in the number of students enrolled full-time in online schools. We’ll visit one of the largest ones this week.
