Former Ohio Schools Chief Deb Delisle Confirmed as Top U.S. Department of Education Official

Former Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Deborah Delisle has been confirmed for a top U.S. Department of Education post.

Former Ohio superintendent of public instruction Deb Delisle has been confirmed as the federal Department of Education’s Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education. The U.S. Senate confirmed Delisle yesterday along with about 20 other federal appointees.

Delisle served as Ohio’s Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2008 to 2011. She previously worked as an elementary school teacher and later as superintendent of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district in Northeastern Ohio.

As the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education, her portfolio will cover just about every federal policy that touches K-12 education in the United States.
