The Columbus Dispatch Presents a Tale of Two Teachers
How can two high school social studies teachers in the same school district have different views on collective bargaining law Senate Bill 5? The Columbus Dispatch looks at that question in this video. According to the video, their answers center on whether teachers should bargain as a group or go it alone.
Brookhaven High School teacher Phil Hayes, who was mentioned in the lede of a recent New York Times story on SB 5, says SB 5 will hurt everyone:
I think collective bargaining is important because it allows booths ides to sit down a the table and come to a mutual agreement.
West High School teacher Jim Murray says he thinks SB 5 will benefit everyone:
I think in today’s educational system, I would prefer to bargain for myself.
