Swing State Unemployment Rates: How Much Do They Matter?

On Monday the Washington Post ran a piece arguing that New Hampshire and other swing states’ low unemployment rates may have a big influence on how voters nationwide perceive the candidates. Today, they’ve posted elements of their argument along with a counter-argument from Monkey Cage blog.


The unemployment rate is lower than the national average in seven of the 12 swing states. Does that help President Obama make his economic case or not?
