“Colorado Company To Acquire Idled Nampa Beef Packing Plant”


JBS USA of Greeley, Colo., is buying the Nampa XL Foods beef plant that closed in 2011.

The Colorado company said it’s completing its purchase of two XL Foods plants, one in Nampa and one in Omaha, Neb., on April 8. Each plant can process 1,100 head of cattle per day.

JBS said April 4 it has no immediate plans to reopen the Idaho facility. Officials in Nampa could not be reached. The closing of the plant put 522 people out of work.
