State Board Of Education Chooses Interim Commissioner

The State Board of Education could choose a new education commissioner in the next 45 to 60 days.


The Florida Board of Education has selected K-12 chancellor Pam Stewart to serve as interim education commissioner beginning Aug. 31, when Gerard Robinson’s resignation takes effect.

Board chairwoman Kathleen Shanahan told the board that Stewart has agreed to serve in the position and is “ready to go.” Board member Gary Chartrand asked if Stewart is seeking the permanent post, and Shanahan said “she is not interested” — at least for now.
