School Prayer Bill Still Has A Chance To Pass

Supporters weren’t optimistic recently, but a bill allowing student-led prayers at school events has a House hearing on Monday.

It wasn’t two weeks ago that Florida Rep. Charles Van Zant didn’t give his school prayer bill a prayer of passage.

“I’ve been trying, but so far no one will agenda the bill,” Van Zant, a Palatka Republican, told the Sun-Sentinel.

That’s about to change. The Senate version of the bill, which passed the full body on a 31–8 vote after contentious debate, has landed on the House Education Pre-K-12 Committee’s Monday agenda for a hearing.
