Pinellas Staff Recommends Approving K12-run Online Charter

Pinellas school officials recommend approving an online charter school to be run by a company under state investigation. The company meets the letter of the law despite officials being “gravely concerned” about the firm, K12, Inc.


A proposed online charter school that would hire a Virginia firm under investigation for using uncertified teachers is up for approval Tuesday before the Pinellas County School Board. District staff gave a stamp of approval to Florida Virtual Academy at Pinellas County. Yet they recommended rejection of two other charters.
