Putting Education Reform To The Test

Palm Beach County Elementary Students Will Be Displaced For Two Years During Construction

School officials said it’s less disruptive on students to temporarily uproot them to another facility than keep them on North Palm Beach Elementary grounds while the school is rebuilt.

Until the new North Palm Beach Elementary opens in 2014, students will attend Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary, 4 miles north on Lone Pine Road. The students and teachers will be in a former school building that was left intact when the Eisenhower school was rebuilt in 2007.

Since then, the building has been used as a temporary school for students from Palm Beach Gardens and Northboro elementary schools while their new schools were built.

“Having the students off the property is more efficient for construction and safer for students,” said Kristin Garrison, director of planning and real estate services for the Palm Beach County School District.
