Orange County Schools Adding Salad Bars

The make-your-own salad bar will be offered twice a week. Schools are adding the healthy options in response to a new law.


Every Orange County public secondary school will have a salad bar this fall. According to Lora Gilbert, director of food services, “they are a ‘make your own’ salad with the bowl of greens, shredded cheese, diverse salad toppers such as a combinations of apples, raisins, and crackers, Southwestern topper of the tortilla strips, black beans and corn, and the veggie topper of carrots, sugar snap peas, and tomatoes offered every Tuesday and Thursday.”
