Financial Aid Not Keeping Up With Rising College Cost

Tuition and fees at the University of Florida rose by 66 percent over the past five years — among the largest increases at a flagship university. A new College Board analysis shows financial aid is not increasing as quickly as the price of college, due in part to state budget cuts.


What the average student pays to go to college is rising significantly after some recent years of stability, the College Board reported Wednesday. Net price for public four-year schools – adding up tuition, fees, room and board, factoring in financial aid and adjusting for inflation – is up 4 percent since last year, to $12,110 per year.
