Applications for New Charter Schools On the Rise

Last year, Volusia only received two applications for charter schools, and neighboring Flagler County received one application.

Volusia received nine applications for new charter schools by the Aug. 1 deadline and Flagler received four. The applications, which include established companies and small groups of parents, represent an array of educational approaches from Montessori programs to an all-boys school for struggling middle and high school students.
