BOG Chairman Dean Colson will give the State of the System address Thursday in Gainesville.

The Florida Board of Governors (BOG) is in Gainesville for a two-day meeting.

Five members of the 17-member panel are new.

Gov. Rick Scott announced the appointments last week. All can begin serving right away, although they need Senate confirmation.

BOG committees overseeing the state university system will talk about budget requests, expansion of online education, and the status of Florida A&M Universityā€™s anti-hazing program.

Agenda items for the full board meeting on Thursday include chairman Dean Colsonā€™s state of the system address.

Members will get an update from Florida State University President Eric Barron about FSUā€™s animation and digital arts program in West Palm Beach. Ā The program was thrown into limbo when partner Digital Domain filed for bankruptcy.

The board will also fill vacancies on the Board of Trustees at nine universities.
